Chestnut South students explore career in manufacturing

April 07, 2017

Mr. Jessie Holmes’ Chestnut South science students had the chance to take classroom learning into the real world when they went on a field-trip to the Lenox American Saw/ Rubbermaid manufacturing facilities.

The students toured the East Longmeadow based plant, which specializes in designing, testing and manufacturing power tool accessories, hand tools and band saw blades.

Donald Gallaghe, Student Life Coordinator at Chestnut South, says that with the support of community partners, volunteers and student interns, the school hopes to introduce students to several local businesses over the next months. This with the goal of exposing students to a variety of career paths.

The Lenox/Rubbermaid tour was made possible thanks to the Regional Employment Board.
