Importance of a Healthy Breakfast Highlighted at Brightwood
As the School Nutrition Association recognizes National School Breakfast Week, Springfield Public Schools celebrates the lead it has taken in making sure all students can start their school day with a nutritious morning meal.
Superintendent Daniel Warwick welcomed Senator Jim Welch, Representative Carlos Gonzalez and Ernesto Cruz from the Office of Representative Jose Tosado, to Brightwood Elementary School where kindergartners enjoyed a healthy breakfast at their classroom. At SPS, free breakfast is available to all students in all schools every day. For many of those students, breakfast is a time that is shared with their teacher and peers right in the classroom. The district’s robust Breakfast in the Classroom program has received several state awards and grants.
