Important Health and Safety Updates for the New School Year

As fall approaches, this serves as a reminder of the steps we can all take to stay healthy.

Schools have special disinfecting agents available, masks for those who need them, and ample hand sanitizing stations throughout all buildings.

We encourage families to consider vaccination as appropriate. Let’s work together to keep our community as healthy as possible as we begin this school year.

Key COVID-19 Safety Guidelines for Schools:

Handwashing/Sanitizing: Frequent handwashing and sanitizing are encouraged. Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.

Masking: While there is no requirement to wear masks in schools, anyone who chooses to do so will be supported. Masks are available upon request in all schools.

Stay Home if Sick: Please do not come to school if you are feeling unwell.

Monitor for Symptoms Consistent with COVID-19:

Fever (100.0°F or higher)

Cough (unrelated to chronic conditions)

Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath

New loss of taste or smell

Sore throat, combined with other symptoms

Headache, combined with other symptoms

Muscle aches or body aches

Nausea or vomiting, combined with other symptoms

Fatigue, combined with other symptoms

Nasal congestion or runny nose (not due to known causes like allergies), combined with other symptoms

Vaccinations and Boosters: Vaccination and booster shots are highly recommended. Please visit your medical provider or text your zip code to 438829 to find vaccine locations near you.

Testing Positive for COVID-19: If you test positive for COVID-19, you may resume normal activities with precautions when you have been fever-free for at least 24 hours without fever-reducing medications, and your other symptoms are improving. Masking is advised for at least five days after resuming normal activities. Please inform the school of any positive COVID-19 cases.

Thank you for your attention to these important health measures. Let’s work together to ensure a safe and healthy start to the school year.
