The Springfield Public Schools in Massachusetts Pre-School Program is an integrated program for children between ages 3-5 years old with or without disabilities. Children with disabilities are enrolled through the special education process as described in Massachusetts Special Education Regulations (603 CMR 28.00) and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act 2005. Children without disabilities are enrolled through an application process that is available on the child's 3rd birthday.
You can now submit an enrollment application without having to visit the Student Assignment Services Center.
We process applications as quickly as possible and in the order they are received. As a result, the following procedures take place:
* Our SAS Coordinator requests previous school records
* SAS Nurses have to verify and approve immunization
records (if the student is missing a vaccine, we have to
wait for the immunization to be given and the record to be
approved)
* If the student has an IEP the record is sent to the SPS
SPED team for evaluation and assignment determination
Kindergarten applicants MUST be 5 years old by September 1st.
First grade applicants MUST be 6 years old by September 1st.
Please review the required documents* you need to have in order to upload them to the application (you can take a photo of the documents and upload them).
*If you cannot provide a required document from the Proof of Residency list, please submit a Residency Affidavit with the application.
