AmeriFlex by Colonial Life Flexible Spending Accounts

The City of Springfield has partnered with Colonial Life Company to provide health care and dependent care flexible spending accounts.  The FSA benefit allows you to contribute pre-tax dollars to individual accounts for eligible uninsured or unreimbursed medical, dental, vision, and dependent care expenses.The Health Care FSA is a DEBIT CARD which allows you to “Swipe-N-Go”.  You will only be able to use your debit card for eligible health care expenses.A Dependent Care FSA (DCFSA) is a pre-tax benefit account used to pay for eligible dependent care services, such as preschool, summer day camp, before or after school programs, and child or adult daycare. If you sign up for a Dependent Care Account, you will need to submit for reimbursements.

The City of Springfield offers payroll deductions for additional individual life insurance and short-term/long-term disability programs through Trustmark.


Employee Assistance Programs (EAP)
Employee Assistance Programs can assist employees in meeting the challenges facing them.  Budget crises, new government requirements, rapidly changing technology, and the impact of social media are just a few of the emerging issues impacting the employment landscape.  The EAP offers extensive resources, links, and tools to assist employees in handling these and other changes.

Employee Assistance Program is one of the largest EAP providers in the country.  The services and programs available cover a wide variety of including work/life balance, self-help resources, performance coaching, and wellness programs.

Mass4You is a EAP bought to you by the Group Insurance Commission (GIC) and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  The program is a friendly and confidential service providing a wide range of resources for any life situation.

Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
The City of Springfield offers eligible employees FMLA.  FMLA provides a means for eligible employees to balance work and family responsibilities by taking leave for certain reasons.
