Work Permits

NOTE: Due to the current closure of all Springfield Public School facilities, the work permit process will be conducted electronically only. 

THINGS TO REMEMBER: To complete the current work permit process, you will need:

  1. Camera capabilities- to take pictures of applicable completed application with signatures and picture identification. These will then be sent to for processing. Work permit applications may be downloaded from this page or at 
  2. Printing capabilities- needed to print the final work permit that will be emailed to the student. The student will print and sign it and then deliver it to the employer.

Work permits are issued ONLY after a student has proof of an offer for employment, applications are completed and submitted, along with identification.

If your student is 14 or 15: For students who are 14 and 15 years old, this includes physician, employer, parent/guardian signature, and school record form.

If your student is 16 or 17: For students who are 16 and 17 years old, a physician’s signature and school record form are not required.  However, a parent/guardian signature is still required.

For all students 14-17 years old:  Proof of age (birth certificate, Massachusetts ID, passport, or immigration record) is required. A school ID or social security card are not accepted as a valid proof of age.
