A New, Easier Way to Communicate About Your Student’s Attendance


This year Springfield Public Schools is making it easier for families and schools to stay connected about attendance. 

The new tool works like this: when a student has an unexplained absence, a text message will be sent to their parent/guardian. 

The parent/guardian can reply directly to the text. This new tool is multilingual and helps families communicate more easily about a subject that is important for every student – attendance.



Here is what families need to do:

• Make sure your child’s school has your current phone number.

• If your number has changed, or if you are unsure which number is on file, please contact your child’s school.
