Darcia Milner serves as a Chief Schools Officer for Springfield Public Schools, where she supports, guides, monitors, and evaluates building-based staff in the following areas:

· creating and maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming school learning environment
· analyzing multiple sources of data to drive decision making
· recruiting and hiring staff
· organization of staff/creation of schedules based on students’ needs
· facilitating professional learning in alignment with student and educator needs
· designing lesson plans and implementing instruction based on students’ needs using the district’s adopted curriculum
· progress monitoring instruction and providing feedback to educators for improvement
· managing the schools’ budgets in service of students’ needs
· securing district or business partnerships to support the needs of the school

With 35 years of experience in education, Darcia Milner brings a deep commitment to student success and equity. As the Chief Schools Officer, Milner works to maximize the impact of schools’ resources, both human and financial, in support of ensuring every student and their family feels safe and welcome at school, enabling our students to attend daily, feel valued and access high quality instruction designed to meet their needs as they strive to meet or exceed grade level standards. The CSO’s efforts directly support the district’s mission to ensure every student is prepared for college, career, and life.
