Karen Carney serves as the President of the Springfield Federation of Paraprofessionals, representing Para-educators, Paras in Training, Certified Nursing Assistants, Licensed Practical Nurses, Health Assistants, Assistant Teachers, Occupational Therapy Assistants, Physical Therapy Assistants and Tutors across Springfield Public Schools. In this role, they focus on supporting student success in the classroom and schools with patience, care and love.
With (26) years of experience in education and (10) years in union leadership, Carney has dedicated her career to supporting students, educators and the Springfield Public Schools community. Her work focuses on creating opportunities for professional growth, higher education and literacy, while ensuring paraprofessionals have the respect, dignity, resources and support they deserve. As Union president, Carney is passionate about empowering members and making sure they have the tools they need to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Springfield’s children. Carney believes that when we invest in our educators and support staff, we strengthen our schools and create better opportunities for every student.
